Good morning, Respected Principal ma’am, teachers and all my dear friends. If today I am able to read something this is just because of the knowledge I could get from books. So today we all gathered here to celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY.
Every year on 23rd April we celebrated World Book day when UNESCO organized it to promote the reading, publishing, and copyright. On 23rd April 1995, world book day was the first time celebrated worldwide. Books are the best friends of everyone. Books are the medium for getting information about the various perspectives of life on various issues. Books play an important role in human life. For celebrating the importance of books, authors, illustrators, and reading there is a day called World Book Day or some call it International Books Day. Sometimes, people use books as a medium to deliver their ideas to large areas. Reading habit is very good because for a student it is none less than a bible. He can utilize the knowledge of books in their real-life while for elder people book is a friend. Whenever you sit alone just read a book and see it will transform your thoughts and opinions in different directions. There are no limitations in reading and writing. This is like an ocean in which you go deeper and deeper as far as you travel to acquire certain knowledge. We all have heard the phrase that “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the man who never reads lives only one.” Books are limitless. Books cannot discriminate between the reader’s as we have seen in our society. Books are that powerful weapon which has the courage to transform a street boy to president of the country. Yes, I am talking about Abraham Lincoln. The director-general of UNESCO also states that “Books are a form of cultural expression that lives through and as part of a chosen language. Each publication is created in a distinct language and is intended for a language-specific reading audience. A book is thus written, produced, exchanged, used and appreciated in a given linguistic and cultural setting”.
Every year on Book day you can see sales, and many events in Libraries, Schools. Even many online sites do organize Book Sales. You can also see book fair at various places on World Books Day. So thank you, friend, I hope you enjoyed this. Have a nice day.
